Crossover Labs wants everyone to be able to use Make Me A Proposal, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, voice control, screen magnification or captions.
The standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, published by the W3C.
Where we are today
Make Me A Proposal partially conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That means most of it meets the standard and some parts don't yet. The gaps we know about:
- The sample proposal PDFs on the home page are not tagged PDFs, so a screen reader may read them out of order. Email us and we'll send the same content in another format.
- The chat concierge does not yet announce new replies to screen readers on its own. The step-by-step walkthrough asks the same questions as a standard form, and you can switch to it from the chat at any time.
- We have not yet finished a full manual review with every major screen reader.
What we do about it
- We run automated WCAG 2.2 AA checks on our pages and fix what they find.
- We check new features with a keyboard and a screen reader before we release them.
- We fix problems in the code itself. We don't use accessibility overlay widgets.

Technical details
Make Me A Proposal uses HTML, CSS and JavaScript and is built to work with current versions of the major browsers and screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack).
Information for customers in the European Union
This section gives the information the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882, Annex V) asks service providers to publish.
The service
Make Me A Proposal writes and designs business proposals for small businesses and freelancers. You describe the job, and a person reviews every proposal before it is delivered. The first proposal is free. After that you can buy a single proposal or subscribe to the Proposal Desk plan.
How it works
You describe the job in a step-by-step walkthrough or a chat, then create an account with an email address or Google. Payments are made by card through Stripe. Your proposal arrives as a designed PDF and a web link, and you can track it and ask for changes from your account page.
How it meets the accessibility requirements
We design and test Make Me A Proposal against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the web content requirements used by the European standard EN 301 549. Our status is partially conformant, with the gaps listed above. We check that images have text alternatives, pages work with a keyboard, text stays readable when zoomed to 200 percent, colors have enough contrast, and forms have labels and clear error messages.
